528 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the funding under the RAPID scheme which will be spent by his Department for additional policing or better security. [7709/01]

As the Deputy will be aware, the RAPID scheme is a focused initiative by the Government to target the 25 most disadvantaged in the country.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that An Garda Síochána will participate in the RAPID scheme in similar fashion to the way in which Garda personnel have engaged in the integrated service process. The focus is on the better co-ordination of services rather than the provision of additional resources per se.
