546 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will instruct the Garda authorities to establish a properly manned drug squad in the Sligo-Leitrim area as a matter of urgency in view of the recent drug seizures in Sligo. [7903/01]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue):

An Garda Síochána have already established a dedicated drugs unit in the Sligo-Leitrim division. The unit currently operates from centres in the Sligo, Manorhamilton, Carrick-on-Shannon and Ballymote Districts.
