Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Austin Deasy

Question:

660 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will ensure that work on a proposed new community school (details supplied) in County Waterford is carried out during the summer break to ensure there is no disruption to classes and that it will be completed by the start of the new 2001 academic year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7989/01]

The design team responsible for the planning of the new community school to which the Deputy refers was requested to revise its stage 4/5 – detailed design and bill of quantities submission. A revised submission was required to have been lodged in my Department no later than 19 February 2001. Unfortunately, the documentation was not received until 9 March 2001. Currently, the documentation is being examined. As soon as this examination is complete, and if found to be satisfactory, the matter of inviting tenders for this project will be decided.
