111 Mr. Durkan asked the Taoiseach the average industrial wage here and in the other Euro pean Union member states; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7307/01]

The average gross earnings of industrial workers in all industries for June 2000, the latest date for which figures are available, are as follows:

Average earnings per week – 435.34 – (IR£342.86).

Average earnings per hour – 10.60 – (IR£8.35).

Annual average data – hourly industrial earnings – for other European Union member states for 1998, the latest date for which figures are available, are as follows:
