Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Computer Hacking.

Denis Naughten

Question:

115 Mr. Naughten asked the Taoiseach if his Department's computer system or website has been hacked or if an attempt to hack it has occurred in the past three years; if so, when such an incident took place; the measures which have been put in place to protect against hacking; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8181/01]

My Department does not have any record of any actual or suspected incidents of computer hackers accessing, or trying to access, its computer systems. My Department maintains various high level security systems to protect its network from all forms of hacking. These systems are constantly examined and upgraded in light of new technological developments.
