153 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress in the amalgamation of St. Patrick's school and Nano Nagle school, Fethard, County Tipperary; the timescale envisaged for the completion of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8429/01]
The boards of management of the two primary schools referred to by the Deputy have informed my Department of their intention to amalgamate from September 2002. The boards have established a steering committee to co-ordinate the process locally.
The question of the provision of suitable accommodation for the amalgamated school is currently being addressed by the planning and building unit of my Department and the boards of management will be kept informed of progress in this regard.
