78 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will approve a grant towards essential repair and reconstruction work to be carried out at Rosbeg Pier, County Donegal. [8328/01]

Rosbeg Pier is owned by Donegal County Council and its repair and maintenance is the responsibility of the local authority in the first instance. Donegal County Council has submitted an application for funding of improvement works at Rosbeg Pier, costing a total of £250,000. The scope for funding works at Rosbeg will be kept under review by my Department in consultation with Donegal County Council in light of available resources in 2001 and subsequent years.

Portnoo Pier is owned by Donegal County Council and its repair and maintenance is the responsibility of the local authority in the first instance. Donegal County Council has submitted an application for funding of pier improvements costing a total of £25,000. The scope for funding works at Portnoo will be kept under review by my Department in consultation with Donegal County Council in light of available resources in 2001 and subsequent years.
