Vol. 533 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

93 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason several farmers are waiting on grant payments for slatted sheds and have been told that his Department has no funding for them; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8350/01]

Some additional funding has recently been allocated to meet grant payments for the pre-2001 on-farm investment schemes and payments will issue this week. Remaining outstanding commitments will be honoured as funds are made available.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

94 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if payment of the special beef premium for 1999 has issued to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [8351/01]

The person named made one 1999 special beef premium application dated 25 January 1999. This application listed a total of 25 animals, the equivalent of 15 livestock units, for premium. The applicant included a zero forage area on his arable area aid application and, as a consequence, was only entitled to a 15 livestock unit payment. To facilitate payment it was done manually. This payment totalling £2,254.25 issued to the person named in July 2000.

Due to an oversight, the person named had been informed in February 2001 that payment in respect of the 25 animals would issue shortly whereas payment had already issued. The special beef premium unit has written to the person named clarifying the matter.
