Vol. 533 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Pat Carey

Question:

99 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Finance if he intends to introduce a confined competition to allow temporary clerical assistants apply for permanent posts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8344/01]

The Civil Service Commission holds competitions at clerical officer level several times throughout the year as part of the ongoing recruitment policy. Confined competitions for the establishment of temporary clerical officers have also been held on occasion as part of this policy. It is hoped to hold the next such establishment competition in June or July of 2001. Temporary clerical officers are, however, free to apply for other open competitions for positions as clerical officer when they arise. The next open clerical officer competition is expected to be advertised by late summer 2001.
