Vol. 533 No. 4

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

John Perry

Question:

144 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the applications for funding which he has received from Sligo County Council in respect of sewerage and water schemes; the funding requested in this regard; the funding granted for each scheme; the plans he has to increase the level of grant awarded; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9224/01]

A copy is being sent to the Deputy of the list of water and sewerage schemes identified by Sligo County Council in response to my Department's request to each local authority to undertake a fresh assessment of needs for capital work in its area and to prepare a prioritised list of projects based on the assessment. This assessment is the council's most up to date and complete statement of its current water and sewerage infrastructure proposals.

Details of approved schemes in County Sligo, including the estimated cost in each case, are set out in the three-year Water Services Investment Programme 2000-2002, published in July 2000, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library. I intend to roll the programme forward by a further year to 2003 within the next few weeks. In the meantime, I have approved an additional tranche of schemes for County Sligo under the serviced land initiative as follows:

Scheme

Estimated Cost

Ballinacarrow Sewerage

£0.5 million

Grange Sewerage Improvement

£0.5 million

Tubbercurry Sewerage

£0.75 million

Cliffoney Sewerage

£0.25 million

Strandhill Sewerage

£0.5 million

Teesan/Lisnalurg Sewerage

£2 million

Any applications that may be made by the council for increases in approved costs of individual schemes will be considered by my Department in the normal way.

Liam Aylward

Question:

145 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the progress to date on the provision of a sewerage scheme (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [9225/01]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 847 of 30 January 2001. The position is unchanged.
