Vol. 533 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Correspondence.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

157 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her attention has been drawn to the fact that a person (details supplied) in County Sligo wrote to an official (details supplied) in Dúchas on 9 October 2000; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that the official, in an acknowledgement dated 23 October 2000, stated that the correspondence was receiving attention and a further letter would issue; if she is in a position to indicate when the letter will issue; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9276/01]

The information sought in this instance related to the views of my Department on a planning issue in Sligo. Through an oversight the views of my Department in the matter were not issued to Sligo Corporation until 5 March 2001. The person in County Sligo referred to by the Deputy received a copy of the information on 6 March 2001 as part of a response to a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I have given instructions that a further letter, responding to the letter of 9 October, issue this week to the person explaining the situation.
