54 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Defence the number of appointments or nominations made by him to boards, committees or other bodies under the aegis of his Department since July 1997; the number of such appointments who were female; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9002/01]

Minister for Defence (Mr. M. Smith)

I have, as Minister for Defence, made five appointments to the Army pensions board, all of which were male, and six appointments to the board of Coiste an Asgard, one of which was female.
