Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Michael Finucane

Question:

116 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a REP scheme payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [9199/01]

A third year REPS payment, dated 22 March 2001, has issued to the person named.

John Ellis

Question:

117 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will pay arrears of REP scheme payments due to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [9200/01]

The person named was selected for a detailed plan check. This check, for which 5% of participants are selected each year, included an examination of his legal entitlement to the lands on which REPS payment was being claimed. Documentation requested by my Department was supplied in December 2000. When this was examined it raised questions in relation to his title to part of the lands being claimed under REPS. My Department will write directly to the person named in the next few days to set out the position in full and explain its bearing on his payments under the scheme.
