Vol. 533 No. 5

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

125 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs when a one parent family allowance or lone parents allowance payment will be made in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Meath who applied in January 2001 and has one dependent child; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9424/01]

A claim for one parent family payment was received from the person concerned in January 2001. Her circumstances are being examined by a local officer of the Department. As soon as the necessary inquiries are completed, a decision will be made on the claim and the person concerned will be notified of the outcome.

In the meantime, if she is in need of financial assistance she should apply to her local community welfare officer for supplementary welfare allowance.
