Vol. 533 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Michael Creed

Question:

142 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the current situation regarding the task force investigating education for autistic children; when this task force is expected to complete its work; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9377/01]

The task force on autism has met on 11 occasions to date. As part of its deliberations, the task force invited submissions from interested parties and more than 100 submissions have been received to date. I understand that the task force expects to complete its work before the end of April 2001 and to present its report shortly thereafter.
