Vol. 533 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael Creed

Question:

144 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Cork which provides education through the applied behaviour-analysis system for autistic children; if his attention has been drawn to the waiting list for children with autism to gain admission to this school; and if he will take every step to expedite the provision of this extended educational facility. [9379/01]

My Department has already indicated its willingness to provide additional funding to facilitate an expansion of the facility in question. My Department is liaising with the authorities at the facility in question in an effort to arrange the necessary accommodation.

Paul McGrath

Question:

145 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science if an application for additional classrooms has been received from a school (details supplied) in County Westmeath; the date this application was received; the progress made to date with this application; and the projected timeframe for the completion of these works. [9395/01]

My Department has received an application from the management authorities of the school referred to by the Deputy for grant aid towards additional accommodation. However, in view of the large number of school building projects being dealt with by my Department and the priority to be afforded to such projects, it is not possible at this point to give any indication as to when the application will be processed. The school authorities will be informed as soon as my Department is in a position to do so.
