Vol. 533 No. 5

Written Answers. - Irish Medical Organisation.

Bernard Allen

Question:

103 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on the Irish Medical Organisation's threatened industrial action in the dispute with him over the vaccination programme and discretionary medical cards. [9359/01]

I recently met the representatives of the Irish Medical Organisation to discuss a number of issues relevant to general practice, including the vaccination programme and discretionary medical cards. I found that discussion useful and informative. My Department hopes to be in a position to respond shortly through the Health Service Employers Agency to the IMO's concern in a manner consistent with Government pay policy and the proper long-term development of the health services.
