Adjournment Debate Matters.

Carlow-Kilkenny): I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice was given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy McGuinness – the need to introduce special measures to improve the take up of third level education in the south east; (2) Deputy Crawford – the need for proper treatment facilities to be made available for those suffering from severe alcoholism in all parts of the country and particularly in the North Eastern Health Board region; (3) Deputy Perry – the need for a feasibility study to be carried out to establish the prospect of the reopening the Collooney to Claremorris railway line as a working part of the Sligo to Limerick route; (4) Deputy Naughten – the need for the Minister for Education and Science to provide funding for personal assistants at St. Michael's school, Castlerea; (5) Deputy Gerard Reynolds – the need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to give priority to the provision of a closed circuit television system for Sligo; (6) Deputy Michael D. Higgins – the inadequacy of the tax package offered by the Government to address the needs of taxi drivers and their families; (7) Deputy Ring – the need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to simplify the application forms under the equal opportunities child care programme 2000-06 and increase the capital expenditure grant limit of £40,000; (8) Deputy Neville – the report of the internal inquiry by the Mid-Western Health Board into the loss of blood and other samples which belonged to a family (details supplied); and (9) Deputy O'Sullivan – the need for the Minister for Environment and Local Government to ensure that the environmental and health concerns of residents are fully protected in relation to the removal, storage and final disposal of material, mainly consisting of calcium phosphate, in Montpelier and Drumkeen areas of Limerick and the Donohill area of Tipperary and in similar cases across the country.

The matters raised by Deputies McGuinness, Michael D. Higgins, Crawford and Ring have been selected for discussion.
