Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Dan Neville

Question:

170 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a slaughter premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [9725/01]

Slaughter premium in respect of four animals slaughtered in 2000 at the rate of £17 per animal – advance payment totalling £68 – will be paid to the person named in the next payment run due at the end of April. The reason for the delay is that this applicant only returned his producer acknowledgement form on 22 March, 2001. A producer acknowledgement form confirming receipt of slaughter scheme terms and conditions must be returned to the slaughter premium section before any payments are made.

John Perry

Question:

171 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 135 of 27 March 2001, he will again review the appeal of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9778/01]

An appeal was received by the headage and premia appeals unit from the herd owner on 30 March 2001, concerning his 2000 suckler cow premium and cattle headage application. Appeals require individual examination and are dealt with in the order in which they are received. This appeal will be examined as soon as possible and the herd owner will be notified of the outcome.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

172 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan will receive headage and other livestock related payments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9779/01]

The person named applied on ten cows under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme and on ten beef cows and nine other animals under the 2000 cattle headage scheme.

When the applications were being processed for payment it was discovered that one of the cows, tag No. RFA130887, did not qualify as an eligible breed for grants under the schemes. The person named was written to by my Department on 22 August 2000 asking him to confirm the breed of animal. He replied on 2 February 2001 stating that he had another eligible cow. He was again written to on 12 March 2001 informing him that no grant would be paid on the ineligible animal, and that the grants payable on the remaining animals would be subject to reduced payments under the terms and conditions governing the cattle headage and suckler cow premium schemes. In addition, he was given the opportunity to have the decision reviewed. As processing of this claim has now been finalised, payments will issue within the next seven days.
