Question:

199 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance the name, remit, budget and responsibility, including its headquarters and staff, of any organisation or agency under the aegis of his Department involved in any type of development in the BMW region; the monitoring process involved by his Department in respect of such development; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9799/01]

The Office of Public Works in exercising its function as the building/procuring arm of the Government is continuing the process of providing new Government offices, Garda stations and other accommodation as well as maintaining and refurbishing/extending its existing stock of Government property in the BMW area. There will be specific developments in Roscommon and Galway for the Departments of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, Health and Children and the Marine and Natural Resources, respectively.

The Deputy may also wish to note there are a number of bodies under the aegis of my Department which have a role in managing and monitoring the implementation of the Operational Programmes, OPs, under the National Development Plan 2000-2006 and the Community Support Framework, CSF, for Ireland 2000-06, including the BMW Regional Operational Programme. The NDP/CSF evaluation and information units are responsible for evaluating and publicising the NDP/CSF OPs respectively in co-operation with the managing authorities for each of the OPs. The Special EU Programmes Body, SEUPB, is responsible for implementing the Peace Operational Programme and the crossBorder elements of Community Initiatives such as the Ireland/Northern Ireland Interreg programme etc. In regard to all the OPs fund development projects in the BMW region, the Deputy can receive details of them from the rel evant OP managing authorities and implementing agencies.
