Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Road Network.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

292 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received any report from the local authority or the National Roads Authority arising from the severe flooding in November 2000 on the M4 motorway at Maynooth, County Kildare, and its environs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10030/01]

Under the Roads Act, 1993, the National Roads Authority has overall responsibility for the planning and supervision of works for the construction and maintenance of national roads. My Department is aware that the Authority will be making available to interested parties an assessment of last year's flooding of the M4 motorway and of desirable remedial measures to prevent recurrence. I have arranged that NRA will send this report to the Deputy when available.
