Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Wildlife Amendment Act, 2000.

Deirdre Clune

Question:

350 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when the Wildlife (Amendment) Act, 2000 will be commenced in full; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9933/01]

Section 46 of the Wildlife (Amendment) Act, 2000, which extends the restrictions on the burning or destruction of vegetation during the breeding and nesting season, was commenced on 12 March 2001. There are over 70 further sections which need to be commenced by ministerial order and it is envisaged that the majority of these will be commenced by end 2001.
