Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Special Examination Arrangements.

Austin Deasy

Question:

439 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science the special concessions which are available to exam students who suffer from dyslexia and other special needs for subjects other than English; and if none are in place, if he will rectify this immediately. [9613/01]

My Department operates a scheme of reasonable accommodations for candidates with special needs at the certificate examinations. The range of reasonable accommodations available includes the use of readers, scribes, tape recorders and the use of computer technology in certain cases. These accommodations can apply across the entire range of subjects and are not restricted to English alone.
