Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Revenue Partnership Report.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

57 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Finance when it is expected that the final report of the Revenue partnership intensive group on the shadow economy will be finalised; if it is intended to publish the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9743/01]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners, by way of background, that its partnership committee established a group – the Revenue partnership intensive group on the overall organisational response to the shadow economy – to consider further measures that might be taken by Revenue in regard to the shadow economy and to make recommendations. In line with the partnership agreement, the intensive group is made up of representatives from management, unions and staff.

The draft report of the partnership intensive group on the shadow economy required further discussions by Revenue's partnership committee. These will not take place until after the members of the committee have had an opportunity to consider the draft report fully and after Revenue's business areas have provided comment on the report's recommendations. I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that it is not possible to say when the report will be finalised and a decision taken on the question of publication. However, I understand that this will be done as quickly as possible.
