Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Poverty Proofing Analysis.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

69 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Finance if he will aim at the publication of a poverty proofing analysis of the forthcoming early autumn budget on that budget day. [5746/01]

The income tax provisions contained in the next budget will be poverty proofed having regard to the official guidelines on the matter and paragraph 1.1.5 of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. My Department carried out such a poverty proofing exercise for budget 2001 and annex C, which was published as part of the budget booklet on budget day, outlines this exercise. The Government recently announced that budget 2002 will be presented to Dáil Éireann on 5 December 2001.
