Vol. 534 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Willie Penrose

Question:

127 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will ensure that an extensification payment is made to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10184/01]

On 21 January 1998 the person named signed a mandate authorising my Department to pay the Land Commission any of the EU livestock premia and EU arable aid and disadvantaged areas headage grants due to him in lieu of any arrears of annuity-rent that were owed by him subject to a £1,400 limit per annum.

Consequently, most of his entitlement under the 1999 extensification premium was offset against land annuity arrears for the year 2000. In total, a sum of £1,345.28 out of the 1999 extensification premium of £1,380.16 due on animals paid under the 1999 special beef premium scheme and the 1999 suckler cow premium scheme was so offset on 9 June 2000. The balance of £34.88 was paid to the person named on the same date. A further £54.72 was recouped on 31 May 2000 against land annuity arrears from his entitlement under the 1999 special beef premium Euro top-up. Payments under the 2000 extensification premium scheme will be completed in June 2001.
