Vol. 534 No. 1

Written Answers. - General Practitioners Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

154 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department has met the general practitioner section of the Irish Medical Organisation, in view of the fact that general practitioner members are preparing a ballot for strike action. [10166/01]

I met with the Irish Medical Organisation at the beginning of March, to discuss a number of issues relevant to general practice. I found the discussion both useful and informative. Currently, the Irish Medical Organisation and the Health Service Employers Agency, which is the appropriate forum for addressing these matters, are discussing a number of issues in relation to the GMS in general. In fact, a further meeting is taking place this afternoon betwen the IMO and HSEA which will hopefully see the agreed resolution of outstanding issues and the removal of the possibility of any industrial action or withdrawal of service.

Question No. 155 answered with Questions Nos. 51, 63 and 141.
