Vol. 534 No. 4

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

John McGuinness

Question:

153 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will consider increasing the group water scheme allocation to Kilkenny County Council to enable the local authority complete outstanding schemes such as the Castlewarren group water scheme; and if he will outline the level of support given to Kilkenny County Council in this area since 1997. [10872/01]

Last February I allocated a block grant of over £1 million to Kilkenny County Council in respect of expenditure arising under the devolved Rural Water Programme in 2001. So far none of the moneys allocated have been drawn down by the council nor has my Department been requested to increase the group schemes allocation. The payments made to Kilkenny County Council for group schemes since 1997 are detailed in the following table.

1997

208,700

1998
