Vol. 534 No. 4

Written Answers - Television Reception.

Ivor Callely

Question:

183 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress which has been made to improve the RTE reception to television audiences in west Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10863/01]

The issue raised by the Deputy is the day-to-day responsibility of the RTE Authority and I have no statutory function in the matter. However, in accordance with long-standing custom, I am prepared to furnish information supplied by RTE in response to questions relating specifically to improvements in reception of RTE's national broadcasting services. RTE reports that, during 2000, new transposers were installed in Leap, Mount Gabriel and Drimoleague which provide good quality television reception of RTE 1, Network 2 and TG4 in west Cork. RTE states that television reception in west Cork generally is satisfactory.
