Question:

242 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of teachers employed in secondary schools who do not hold permanent positions; the status of their employment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11093/01]

In the current school year there are 1,158 temporary wholetime teachers and 959 eligible part-time teachers employed in secondary schools.

Details of the number of part-time teachers employed in secondary schools are not readily available.
