Vol. 534 No. 4

Written Answers - Part-time Workers.

Jack Wall

Question:

90 Mr. Wall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the position in regard to payments for part-time staff for bank holidays, week-end and overtime working; if she will also provide details in relation to holiday entitlements for such workers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10933/01]

Payments for part-time staff for bank holidays, week-end, overtime working and holiday entitlements vary from case to case.

The Organisation of Working Time (Determination of Pay for Holidays) Regulations, 1997 (S.I. No. 475 of 1997) made pursuant to the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 set out the methods for calculating these rates of payment. These calculations are quite detailed and complex.

I will provide the Deputy with a copy of the full set of these regulations, together with a copy of my Department's Information Booklet entitled Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 – Information on Holidays and Public Holidays which sets out the details involved.
