Vol. 534 No. 5

Written Answers - Hospital Services.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

119 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to statements concerning St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8, and the fact that, on an average day, four to six wards have no blood testing, with responsibility falling on non-consultant hospital doctors, with at least one a week ICU, CCU, and HDU not covered, with less than one hours notice, and that GP patients wait up to two hours for a blood test; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11129/01]

Services at St. James's hospital are provided under an arrangement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I have, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matters raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to him.
