Question:

212 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the agreement which has been reached with the IRFU regarding the proposed national stadium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11260/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 210 and 212 together.

Following a series of meetings held with the Gaelic Athletic Association about participation in the national stadium project, certain proposals have now been put forward which will be the subject of further negotiations with the association in the context of a formal legal agreement.

As explained by the Taoiseach in the House this week, I will present a report to Government in the near future on the funding arrangements proposed and the strategies to be pursued in the ongoing discussions with the sports bodies, including the Irish Rugby Football Union which has already announced its intention to play its major international games at Stadium Ireland.

When these detailed formal discussions with the GAA, IRFU and the FAI have been concluded, I will be in a position to inform the House of the outcome.
