231 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science the 2000 outturn in respect of the amount of funding spent on primary school capital projects and secondary school capital projects; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11276/01]

Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods):

My Department expended £202.81 million on primary and post-primary schools capital projects in 2000. This compares with a total of £72.5 million in 1997 when the Government took office, or almost a threefold increase.
