Written Answers - Prison Medical Service.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

47 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason the Prisons Service cannot recruit a pharmacist. [9905/01]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that, as result of open competition held by the Office of The Civil Service and Local Appointments Commissioners, a person has been selected and has accepted appointment to this position. The appointee has agreed to take up duty as pharmacist to the Irish Prisons Service on 8 May 2001.
