Billy Timmins

Question:

234 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation regarding the proposed works for a new primary school at Stratford on Slaney, County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14150/01]

The application referred to by the Deputy is being examined in the planning and building unit of my Department at present and a response will issue to the board of management of the school as soon as possible.

235 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation regarding the proposed new primary school for the No. 1 school, Blessington, County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14151/01]

The application referred to by the Deputy has been examined in the planning and building unit of my Department. A letter issued recently to the chairperson of the board of management requesting the board's views on the decision of the planning and building unit regarding the school's long-term accommodation needs. A reply to this letter is awaited.

236 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation regarding the proposed new primary school for St. Mary's, Blessington, County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14152/01]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works is acting on behalf of my Department in relation to site acquisitions generally and is currently exploring the possibility of acquiring a site for the school in question. It is not possible at this stage to give any indication of the timescale for the completion of the acquisition. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
