Vol. 536 No. 6

Written Answers. - EU Legislation.

Alan Shatter

Question:

193 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when it is intended to bring the appropriate instrument to ratify the agreement between the European Union and Switzerland relating to the free movement of persons before Dáil Éireann; if amendments are required to current Irish law to enable ratification to take place. [14673/01]

The matter is currently under consideration with a view to making the necessary arrangements to ratify the agreement at the earliest opportunity. In this context, I propose, subject to Government approval, to bring forward legislative provisions necessary for the ratification of the agreement in the framework of the Immigration (Carriers Liability) Bill at present in course of preparation.

Question No. 194 answered with Question No. 114.
