Vol. 537 No. 1

Written Answers. - Victims Charter.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

180 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when the comprehensive charter for the victims of crime will be implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15402/01]

As the Deputy will be aware, a new comprehensive charter for victims of crime was published in September 1999 which set out the rights and entitlements to services and the levels and standards of treatment which crime victims can reasonably expect. The charter operated from the time of publication and clear complaint procedures are provided where victims' expectations are not met or where the level of service is not as set out in the charter.
