Vol. 537 No. 1

Written Answers. - Food Safety Authority.

John Bruton

Question:

91 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will give the Food Safety Authority of Ireland a statutory role in verifying the adequacy of controls on animal feeds in use here. [15453/01]

An extensive range of controls in relation to the production of animal feeding stuffs is in place and these controls have been intensively reviewed at EU and national level. My Department's role in the regulation of food safety is covered by a service contract with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.
