Vol. 537 No. 1

Written Answers. - Codex Alimentarius.

John Bruton

Question:

102 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he would favour the EU Commission representing the EU at Codex Alimentarius committees in order to ensure coherence of approach. [15472/01]

I have supported the application by the EU to become a member of Codex Alimentarius. As a consequence I would have no objection to the representation by the Commission of the EU's position at Codex Alimentarius committees provided appropriate arrangements are made for the involvement of member states in Codex Alimentarius business.
