Question:

216 Miss Fox asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will consider providing a crime prevention vehicle for the Avoca area of County Wicklow; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a garda had to walk to the scene of a fire recently in the Vale View Hotel, Avoca, a distance of almost two miles; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Garda is responsible for the detailed allocation of personnel and resources to individual areas, and Wicklow Garda district, of which Avoca is part, has seven vehicles:

Roundwood	1 Car
Newtownmountkennedy	1 Car
Wicklow	4 Cars
Rathdrum	1 Car

The Garda authorities have also informed me that the allocation of vehicles to the Wicklow District is comparable to other districts of similar size and population.
