Vol. 537 No. 3

Written Answers. - Housing Report.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

67 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he expects to conclude his consideration of the report of the National Economic and Social Forum on social and affordable housing, including its recommendation for a national housing authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15974/01]

The report of the National Economic and Social Forum entitled Social and Affordable Housing and Accommodation: Building the Future, its recommendations and policy implications are being examined in detail by my Department. This examination includes the question of the possible value of a national housing authority. Many of the recommendations contained in the report have already been implemented following the review of social and affordable housing needs and programmes undertaken by my Department last year.
