Vol. 537 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

171 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science when the additional room required for Renvyle School, County Galway, will be provided; when work will commence; if he will accept that the school should not have to wait for this room, which is required for a resource teacher and a special needs assistant, until summer 2003; and if he will give immediate approval for the project and expedite its provision. [16406/01]

My Department is considering the most efficient and cost effective way of providing appropriate long-term accommodation for Renvyle national school, County Galway. If necessary, the board of management can apply for grant aid towards the provision of temporary accommodation in order to alleviate some of their current accommodation difficulties. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
