Vol. 537 No. 4

Written Answers. - Automatic Teller Machines.

Phil Hogan

Question:

63 Mr. Hogan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the potential risk to consumers from criminal elements in respect of the withdrawal of funds from ATMs; if she will discuss better security arrangements for holders of credit cards in the interest of consumer protection; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16363/01]

I do not have responsibility for dealing with either the "criminal elements" or "security arrangements" to which the Deputy refers. Could I suggest that perhaps my colleague, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, would be the appropriate Minister to whom the Deputy might wish to address these specific concerns in relation to consumers.
