Vol. 537 No. 4

Written Answers. - Drug Treatment Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

91 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received a copy of the Irish Council of General Practitioners audit of general practitioners participating in the methadone prescribing protocol. [16372/01]

Responsibility for auditing general practitioners who are involved in the methadone protocol rests with the Irish College of General Practitioners, in collaboration with the psychiatrists with responsibility for drug misuse in the ERHA. My Department has not received a copy of any such audit.

The Eastern Regional Health Authority will review the methadone protocol as part of its 2001 service plan and I understand that the outcome of the audit process will form part of this review.
