Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Michael Noonan

Question:

346 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Health and Children if a post as radiologist at St. John's Hospital, Limerick, will be filled in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16932/01]

The provision of services in St. John's Hospital, Limerick, including the appointment and replacement of medical staff, is the responsibility of the hospital. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the hospital to investigate the position in relation to this matter and reply to the Deputy directly.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

347 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the proposals he has to upgrade cancer facilities at Waterford Regional Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16938/01]

The provision of cancer services at Waterford Regional Hospital is, in the first instance, the statutory responsibility of the South Eastern Health Board. I have, therefore, asked the chief executive officer at the board to look into the matter raised by the Deputy and reply directly to him in this regard.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

348 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make funding available for the provision of additional facilities (details supplied) at the North West Hospice, Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16939/01]

John Perry

Question:

352 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children when the capital grant of £120,000 will be granted to the North West Hospice, Sligo, from the national lottery surplus within his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17024/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 348 and 352 together.

My Department has received an application for national lottery funding in respect of the North West Hospice. This application is currently under consideration and a decision will be made as soon as possible.
