Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Authority Property.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

412 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of acres of land owned by each local authority, urban district council and each corporation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17260/01]

Last year, the Government decided to establish a national public property register, which will contain information on lands and buildings in the ownership of Departments and State agencies, including local authorities, non-commercial State bodies, health boards and certain education bodies. Work on compiling the register is currently under way in the Office of Public Works.

I understand that local authorities are currently collating the necessary information for the regis ter. The information requested is, therefore, not available in my Department at this stage.
