Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Monuments.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

449 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the heritage sites under the aegis of her Department in Counties Monaghan and Cavan; the plans she has to further develop these sites; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16651/01]

The following national monuments in Counties Cavan and Monaghan are in State care. There are no major conservation works proposed for any of the sites listed. There is, however, a programme of regular maintenance of such sites, that is, grass cutting and periodic removal of vegetation.

My Department is currently engaged in a programme of interpretative panels at many of these heritage sites.
