Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Inland Waterways.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

455 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her attention has been drawn to the level of interest in the Ulster Canal; the position regarding its refurbishment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16855/01]

I refer the Deputy to Parliamentary Question No. 227, dated 13 February 2001.

I am aware of the interest in the Ulster Canal. I understand that Waterways Ireland is completing an assessment of the consultants' final report on the Ulster Canal and that its findings will be presented to the next meeting of the inland waterways sectoral format of the North/South Ministerial Council planned for the end of this month.
