Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Training.

Dan Neville

Question:

488 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 198 of 4 October 2000, the director of training and quality service at the Garda Training College, Templemore, County Tipperary has completed the review of training requirements; and if he has recommended the appointment of a full-time instructor to the social studies area with specific responsibility for all matters relating to suicidology. [16880/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the director of training and quality service has completed a review of the staffing required to continue to deliver training on suicidology to the Garda organisation and to provide an input into seminars and courses organised by external agencies.

A full-time teacher-trainer with specific responsibility for all educational/training matters relating to suicidology has been appointed to the social studies area.
